Marble has been valued for thousands of years for its fabulously rich palette of beautiful colours and appearance and is an ultimate statement of luxury anywhere in the house.
Marble is created from limestone that has undergone intense heat and pressure. A transformation process takes place when the weight of the overlying material, pressure from crystal collisions and heat from the earth's core generate temperatures in excess of 1800°F. The resulting texture of the marble depends on the form, size and uniformity of grains whilst the colour and feathering so typical in many marbles is caused by the impurities in the limestone strata (generally only calcite and dolomite marbles are pure white).
