Looking for Concrete Floor Polishing in London?
There was a time when DirectStone concrete floor polishing in London was mostly confined to large commercial spaces such as shopping centres, or office buildings. Over the last few years, though, our London clients have become more diverse, and the range of polished concrete applications in the capital more numerous. DirectStone’s concrete polished flooring can now be found in London homes, retail, hotels, showrooms and refurbishments.
Flooring as elegant and durable as polished concrete was always going to create demand in London. Our clients tell us they love its glossy, mirror-like finish, as well as appreciating its strength, durability and hands off maintenance. Concrete floors are minimalist, easy on the eye, and intensely practical – as such, they’re equally perfect for home dining, or a high-end retail experience in Bond Street.
Laying a Polished Concrete Floor in London
At DirectStone our team of specialists are kept busy with concrete floor polishing in London. They know the material in the same way that carpenters know wood, and they approach their work with the same degree of care and creativity. There’s far more to laying a polished concrete floor in London than grinding back the paste and adding a sealant. Which is why we approach each stage with appropriate attention to detail.
Concrete floor polishing in London happens in 3 clear stages:
Stage 1: The Concrete Slab
To provide polished concrete flooring in London you need the raw material to work with. If the slab has yet to be laid, we’ll talk through the required finish with a client and detail what their builder/contractor needs to do when pouring the concrete.
Or, if you want an existing concrete floor polished, the DirectStone team will take a look to check that it’s suitable for the outcome you desire. It may be that we need to install a topping to make it polish-ready, or advise of a specific finish suited to the quality of the slab.
Stage 2: Polished Concrete London
DirectStone concrete polishers use HTC Superfloor™ machines, with diamond-impregnated abrasive pads, to create the required finish. The process starts out with coarser pads and gradually progresses to finer abrasives in order to refine the finish. During the polishing process, an internal sealer is applied. This is invisible and serves to densify and harden the concrete. The end result is beautiful, stain resistant, low maintenance polished concrete flooring.
Stage 3: Clean Up?
Our HTC machines apply a dry polish and are coupled with a HEPA vacuum which serves to keep the environment virtually dust free. This approach allows us to carry out concrete polishing even after first fix decorating. We’re able to work fast and there’s minimal cleaning up once we’re finished.
Microcement for Flooring and Walls
If you’re looking for the finish that polished concrete offers, without having to lay a concrete slab, microcement may be the ideal solution. It utilises innovative hybrid epoxy resin technology and can be applied to walls or floors. It requires just a thin layer to create surfaces that look like concrete.
Microcement is waterproof, slip-proof and has the durability of concrete. It can be polished in exactly the same way to create a gloss, matte, or satin finish. And there are no limits when it comes to a choice of colour. Microcement comes in all standard colours, and DirectStone will colour match it to any RAL colour for you.
