Flexible and adaptable are not words you would normally apply to concrete. The opportunities it affords, however, for light maintenance solutions in a range of polished concrete floor finishes, makes it one of the most versatile flooring options available.
Polished Concrete Finishes Created by HTC Superfloor™
DirectStone floor specialists use HTC concrete grinding machines to create a range of stunning finishes. HTC Superfloor™ is a dry grinding and polishing process which can be applied to both new and existing concrete slabs, including dry shake finished concrete.
HTC machines use metal bonded diamond tools to grind back the surface paste and reveal the stronger concrete beneath it. The floor is polished by mechanically refining the surface using diamond studded abrasive pads. Dependent on the finish required, we use progressively finer grits to achieve a floor that is evenly polished across its surface area.
A concrete densifier is applied prior to polishing in order to strengthen the surface of the concrete. Then, upon completion, a sealant is added. This improves the stain resistance of the concrete flooring.
A Range of Polished Concrete Floor Finishes
High gloss polished concrete has a WOW factor that’s hard to beat. If, however, you’re looking for a matte, or shimmering satin effect for your flooring, our range of finishes will deliver:
1. Bronze
The existing surface paste is left in place and polished. This creates a shimmering glossy finish which accentuates the natural tonal colouration of the concrete. This finish requires a flat and uniformly level concrete slab.
2. Silver
The surface paste is ground back to reveal the aggregate below the surface, but it is left unpolished. This finish is ideal if you want a unique concrete floor texture and colouration created by the ballast, but prefer the matte finish.
3. Gold
Also known as ‘Salt & Pepper’, the surface paste is ground back, but less ballast is revealed that with the Silver finish. The floor is polished using HTC Twister™ which achieves a gloss polish. This finish is ideal for commercial flooring where extra resistance to marking, from tyres for example, is required.
4. Platinum
The surface of the concrete is refined to produce the glossiest finish available. The platinum floor combines stunning visuals with unbeatable durability. Truck wheels will leave no markings on the glossy floor, adding ‘hands off’ maintenance to the benefits of the high gloss finish.
