It’s ten years now since out family business delivered its first polished concrete flooring solution. Since then the DirectStone team has grown, and we’re now able to offer our hand-finished concrete flooring in Birmingham and the West Midlands. We’re flooring specialists who install, repair and refurbish concrete. Our products combine elegance, durability and low maintenance.

Our polishing process starts with HTC Superfloor™ machines, which grind back the surface paste to reveal a unique patterning beneath the surface. This is polished using diamond studded pads to a matte, satin or gloss finish. Throughout the process of grinding and polishing we use HEPA filtered extraction in order to maintain a virtually dust-free environment.

Without regular brushing and mopping, polished concrete loses its sheen. An accumulation of dust and grit creates tiny scratches which tarnish the polish. The DirectStone team restores the shine to lacklustre flooring, and repairs any chips or unsightly cracks. Using HTC Superfloor™ machines, the damaged surface is ground back, new sealant is applied, and the surface is re-polished.

Polished concrete flooring can be retrofitted using a concrete slab that may have been covered with carpet or tiles. We are usually able to grind away blemishes caused by age and usage to reveal the unique patterning and tone of the aggregate beneath.

A polished concrete floor is extremely low maintenance. The surface needs to be kept clear of dust and grime through sweeping and mopping with a light detergent. When combined with the HTC Twister system, your floor will stay looking ‘just polished’ for years. Every 2-4 years we would recommend replacing your sealant, dependent on the volume of foot-traffic.
